Licensed Clinicians in Cleveland OH

Dr. Chris Humpage

My approach to psychotherapy is to create a custom treatment plan for each client.

Everyone brings unique experiences, identities, and points of view to therapy. My primary job is to focus the client’s construction of their concern and their treatment goals. Then, we collaborate on a plan that feels right to the client. I am transparent about the science and pros/cons of various treatment methods. Psychotherapy is most effective when it looks through multiple lenses and combines the best attributes of different approaches for each client.

I began my journey into psychology at age twenty when a medical error during a routine surgery resulted in persistent pain and loss of physical ability. At twenty, I lacked the mental health knowledge and life skills to effectively manage that challenge, experiencing significant depression and anxiety. Once I rebounded after my own mental health treatment, I changed my career focus to better understanding mind and behavior. I know firsthand that mental health concerns hit hard, and I want to help other people find ways to weather the blow, reach their goals, and develop greater insight and resilience.

I obtained my Psy.D (Doctor of Psychology) from Wright State University in 2011 and have worked for the past twelve years in community health, university health, and VA settings. Most recently, I spent six years as assistant director of the counseling center at Baldwin Wallace University, tasked with helping run the clinic and supervise doctoral candidates. Along the way, I’ve been privileged to work with a wide variety of clients and concerns. Each client has taught me something new, but the main thing I’ve learned in my career is the power of presence. Each client deserves a fully present, fully invested psychotherapist who focuses treatment on the unique strengths, client factors, and goals of each client. Each client deserves to know the path of treatment so that they can give feedback and make changes. Lastly, each client can benefit from rapid change factors that present themselves in the first one or two sessions.

Over time, I have developed specialties in the following areas:

  • Depression
  • Anxiety
  • Panic Disorder
  • Couples Therapy/Relational Stress
  • Trauma
  • Teen/Adolescent Concerns
  • Work Stress and Burnout

I reside and work in North Olmsted, Ohio on the west side of Cleveland. Outside of my practice I spend time with my wife and two daughters who continually challenge me to keep a healthy work/life balance and have some fun.

Dr. Laura Fogarty

My goal is to get to know you and what makes you unique, work with you to develop an individual treatment plan and goals, and to create a supportive, nonjudgmental environment to help you grow and thrive in your mental health journey.

Laura Fogarty Ph.D LLC

I am a licensed psychologist in Ohio who provides telehealth and limited in-person outpatient therapy services (Cleveland area for in-person appointments, anywhere in Ohio for telehealth).

My therapeutic style is best described as person-centered, strengths-based, and eclectic. I believe in meeting each of you where you are and tailoring the treatment plan to your needs, preferences, and strengths. I specialize in work with young adults looking for insight and tools to help navigate life changes and strengthen identity and sense of self, but I am happy to work with adults of all ages who are searching for ways to manage stress and anxiety, adjust to changes, increase self-esteem, improve relationships and communication, and/or more deeply explore the many rich and unique complexities of their identities.

My journey in the helping professions began during my social work program at Lakeland Community College. Through my training and experience working as a case manager at a nonprofit agency, I developed awareness and appreciation for the many environmental and systemic challenges that people face that contribute to their mental health and wellbeing. My social work education also encouraged me to find meaningful ways to advocate for clients as well as policies that promote social justice and equity. I carried this passion forward in my continued education and was motivated to find a doctoral program that shared these values. My Ph.D. from Cleveland State University is specialized in counseling psychology, a program that is housed in the school of urban education. Through this program, I continued to learn and apply principles of diversity, equity, inclusion, and advocacy in my work.

My clinical experience spans a broad range of therapy settings, including a hospital (inpatient, outpatient, and intensive outpatient services), community mental health centers, a university counseling center, outpatient forensics and a county jail, and group and individual private practice. Through all of these experiences, a common theme that emerged was my passion for helping people navigate difficult changes and life transitions. I consider myself a lifelong learner, and in addition to continuing education in the mental health field, I am always learning from my clients and their unique experiences and perspectives. I look forward to meeting you and learning about what makes you unique, helping you discover your strengths, and helping you identify your goals and areas for growth and improvement in overall wellbeing.
